PERSONALITY
Fairly sociable and attention-seeking, Raine often has moments of instinctive petulant behavior when things don't quite go to plan. Like a cat who knocks over a water bottle from the desk (which is also something that, sometimes, they feel they must do,) Raine is not above ruining someone else's day for ruining theirs and mouthing off in passive-aggression.
Due to Raine's cat heritage, they like to curl up in warm spots and sleep in shifted form, just waiting for passers-by to pet them so they can mooch off of that good will. Raine is very clean regardless of shape, and likes every hair and fabric in its rightful place on their body. They are both meticulous and detail-oriented, not wanting to miss catches over the big picture.
Their surface-level social behavior leaves them lonely and longing for genuine bonds.
When opening up, they have a decidedly soft-hearted core that's prone to insecurities - particularly in regards to their genitals having "a shape that is not nearly as cute as my face, and unbecoming of my stature."
That said, there is a darker aspect to their heart that only a lowered mood can fully manifest - having the desire to sleep in extreme excess is only one expression of their depression regarding the loss of their husband, Finley, so many centuries ago. Raine is a particularly social person, adoring of the affection of friends and even ever-growing distant relatives, but most tend to grow old and pass while they stay the same.
As a result, they slept for a millennia in the locked and warded home they'd built with Finley, which also doubles as a somewhat impressive library.
ABILITIES
Shadow-summoning - Raine can use their shadow or surrounding shadows to create creatures (cats in particular) and give them a tangible form (though they are devoid of a shadow beneath their feet) and infuse them with chunks of their own personality. The cats have a pseudo-sentience based off of Raine's own emotional, bodily, and mental cues. Raine can create many kitten-sized shadow cats or a few (no more than 5) larger ones, or one very large one. They all share senses with each other and Raine, able to carry objects and come and go between the shadows. These cats are distinctly black and only semi-corporeal, able to be gently petted but no firmer. Their eyes are often wide and moonlight-white.
Supernatural speed - Raine has the capability to run significantly faster than the average human; this includes turning sharply and stopping on a dime, especially in werecat form where they have pawpads to better grip the ground with.
Supernatural endurance - Raine can endure physical blows that could kill someone without much harm coming to them, as well as being able to keep up physically taxing tasks for some time. Still, surprise attacks can still severely wound them.
Supernatural strength - most objects can be accidentally broken by them if they act carelessly.
Supernatural hearing - Raine can hear even quiet sounds upwards to a radius of 500 meters / 1/5th of a mile away
Supernatural sense of smell - Although perhaps not as discerning as a dog's, Raine can particularly catch the scent of blood for a great distance, but not if it's been washed away. Other scents are also easy to catch.
Supernatural sense of sight - Raine can see farther in the distance than a human during the night, and see in the dark as if it was daylight. In daylight, Raine's vision is marginally affected; distant objects do not quite appear well to them.
Flexibility - They have contortionist-quality flexibility.
